Laa gòn 2016! Sawadee 2017!

2016

Goodbye 2016! Hello 2017! Happy New Year 2017!
2016 have been a year of subbing at full throttle with a completion of 10 projects! Each and every projects have it’s up and down, excitement and draw back. And the project with garnered the most attention and probably the fastest subbed project that I’ve done so far would be none other than Karn La Krang Neung Nai Hua Jai. This is one lakorn that’s making me longing for more! Well maybe just an episode more!
While on the other hand the lakorn which I wish would not drag on to so much episode is the lakorn which is airing at the same time as KLKNNHJ, Sailab Rak Bpuan. I was so excited with SRB when it first started to air. I love the combi of Andrew Gregson and Ploy Cherman and on top of that the OST was performed by my fave Dome Pakorn too! The starting of the lakorn was fun and fast paced but towards the mid ending it started to drag on with too many flash back which makes subbing consistently a challenge and also I got bored timing and subbing the same scene over and over again!
Also in 2016, I started attempting subbing different genre than romantic comedy. Which is the “raeng” genre, the slap/kiss lakorn with Mon Rak Asoon. Yes, I do love a good slap/kiss lakorn and I’m sure there’s a lot of people who love it as well but as I’m a temperamental person, I get affected by whatever I’m subbing pretty easily. So that’s the reason why I usually chose something light and comedic over “raeng”! 😛
The down and drawback? Still the same issue as the previous year ever since I started subbing. The projects are being uploaded elsewhere ie. youtube, dramacool or other streaming sites without permission. I didn’t realised how many people are watching my subbed project until I tracked down these sites. And I got even more frustrated when I read the comments. Other than that, knowing that they have earned (with those popup ads and etc) for all the hard work and time that I’ve put in it doesn’t help too. I feel like I’ve been ripped off! So these are the things which makes me think maybe it’s time for me to retire! Well I’m only human, so if I can’t accept it, I think I should just stop rather than torment myself! 😛 Let’s hope we don’t come to that yet!
Now if I were to rank the 10 projects which I’ve completed in 2016 based on my personal preference from the least to the most I like…. Well, it’s a tough choice because if I don’t like the lakorn, I wouldn’t have started in the first place, right? I would say it would be based on my timing/subbing experience which one would I like least to best.

10. Sailab Rak Bpuan
Love the pra’nang and the special effect. But I was struggling towards the 2nd half of the show to get all the episodes sub till the end. As usual I try to complete all the project that I’ve started. I blame it on too much flash back probably to prolong the number of episodes. If they have just cut the episodes by one or two, it would be perfect!

9. Devil Lover
What can I say about this one? Nice scenery, supernatural story line for a change! Overall, cute!

8. Koo Woon Loon Paen Ruk
This one makes me fall in love with the pra’nang Win & Kwan that’s why I ended up picking up TMTJ. At first I was rooting for Natee and Korjan. But I find that the ending was pretty predictable.

7. Angel Destiny
I jump into this one solely because of Golf Pichaya. With my selection of lakorn you would have known by now that I’m a big fan of Golf! XP Overall, I’ve enjoyed this one more than I’ve anticipated. It’s pretty light-hearted.

6. Jaew Jai Rai Kub Khun Chai Taewada
Well believe it or not this is the first lakorn that I’ve ever watched! Yes, I only started watching lakorn not too long ago. I find that it’s a waste that it wasn’t fully subbed. I’ve always love Pae Arak and Aum Pachrapa.

5. Jao Sao Chapor Kit
I’ve been craving for Film so decided to pick this one up.

4. Mon Rak Asoon
I would say that this is my first “raeng” project. Not a big fan of the nang’ek but overall love it especially the supporting cast!

3. Gasohug
Awesome OST! I fall in love with Ice Nattarat at first sight! That’s what prompted me to pick up this one. 😀

2. Koo Prab Chabab Hua Jai
For once I’ve decided to sub a lakorn because of the story line. No regrets at all with this one!

1. Karn La Krang Neung Nai Hua Jai
What can I say other than love it! ❤ ❤ ❤

So what’s instore for 2017? Well surely the ongoing project is still going to be on going with priority given to lakorn which I like better 😛 And Yes, Game Payabaht will be resumed once it starts airing. I have not seen any announcement on the airing date yet and if my prediction is correct it should air right after the end of Jao Sao Chapor Kit rerun which is likely by end of this month and probably just after Kon La Kop Fah ended which is perfect timing!

New project? I have a handful that I’m eyeing on which will go on air the first half of the year! And it makes the selection of which I wanted to pick up next a bit tough. There’s one I like the story line and genre but not that much on the Pra’nang.  And another that I like the Nang’ek and not the Pra’ek. And there’s two which I love both the pra’nang. Also another one which is remake and already on air with less famous pra’nang but love the story. I know I’m greedy but since we are a small team I understand that we are limited to how much we can take in! No confirmation of which project I’m going to take up next, so just stay tune!

Dear Neko and fellow Thai lakorn lovers!

I absolutely love Karn La Krang Neung Nai Hua Jai! This subbed lakorn holds the greatest sentimental and emotional value to me.

I found KLKNNHJ by accident on YouTube (it was a fan KLKNNHJ music video) whilst I was reminiscing old English subtitled lakorn on Youtube. LOL. I instantly loved the storyline of the fan MV and crossed my fingers that it had English subtitles. Surely, it did and I am so lucky that Neko made subtitles for the entire series.

Neko, if you’re reading this, I literally went to sleep around 3 am for almost an entire week because I couldn’t pry my eyes off the drama. LOL. To me, this Eng sub lakorn is like a Christmas gift to me because I had a long and challenging semester at school last semester and when I found this lakorn during winter break, this felt like a big present to me and I was so glad that I got to enjoy this drama on my last week before school started again (I have one more semester to go before I graduate university!).

Also, during 2016, I was really confused in regards to the lakorn world. I started out as a Ch 3 watcher (because of YouTube) and I was confused as to what happened to all my favourite actors and actresses went (it’s as if they disappeared form Ch 3 TT__TT). And I didn’t know any other resources on where to watch new English lakorns either so I drifted away 😦 . With that said, KLKNNHJ is my first Ch 7 lakorn but it made me fall in love with Thai lakorns again. If KLKNNHJ didn’t exist, I wouldn’t have found Neko’s website!!! Thank you again Neko. I can’t wait for 2017 and what the lakorn world will bring ^_____^ Honestly, I’m hoping there will be KLKNNHJ #2 b/c I felt like they can incorporate a new plot for a continuation since Biao is taking over White Tiger, etc).

First of all, thak you so much neko~ Without your hard word, watching Thai lakorn would be impossible. I am so thankful that you are dedicating your time and effort to sub lakorns for us non Thai fans 🙂 As for my favorite lakorn this year….Most definitely Karn La Krang Neung Nai Hua Jai !!! I just love the story of Fahsai and Daniel. I love the lakorn because it is not dragging, the story is not the usual love story. After the drama ended, I surely missed all the characters and I love how the scenes will make you sympathize with the characters. On top of that, Pimmy is really cute and Mik is hot so they make such a cute and lovely couple. I really loved the drama. I was so glued to my laptop screen even though I had a bunch of important things to do. Great Job neko and Have a great new year 🙂

Thank you for all the effort you put in subbing Thai dramas. International fans like me rarely see Thai dramas being subbed these days so thank you so much. First of all, Happy New Year to you, your family and friends. If I will choose from the projects you had last year, I would definitely chose “Gasohug”. Why? First, because it was produced by GDH and second because of Ice Preechaya. I’ve been a fan of her because of the rom-com movies she made and this one (Gasohug) was short so it’s not that hard to follow. I also love the story and Ice Nattarat. He’s cute and charming. What strikes me the most about this series was the way it was presented. So short but satisfying. I got to learned what are the job opportunities you can have in Thailand if you are not a Thai citizen. (at first I thought it is just like in any other countries). The show provided the feeling of being in love, the little fantasy they included and somewhat delivered an information you can’t see being tackled in other Thai dramas.

I’m really glad you pick it up. I know there’s some difficulties with GDH being strict with their copyright but you manage to get and subbed it for us. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Thank you for all your hard work (BS and KK too!) It is sad to see other site stolen your work, but think positive, you have a large loyal fan, we will be sadden if you decide to stop 😦

    Here is my vote:
#1: Karn La Krang Neung Nai Hua Jai: Love the story and cast (not so much the nang’ek).
#2: JJao Sao Chapor Kit: they are both so cute, great ending
#3: Koo Woon Loon Paen Ruk: I like Win & Kwan pair, but the story here is quite disappointing. I was also hoping she end up with the brother.
#4: Mon Rak Asoon: the story is not bad, just bias on the new nang’ek. Something about her feature remind me or Raeng Tawan nang’ek.

Have not finish the rest, so not sure yet. I drop Koo Prab Chabab Hua Jai when the poor girl (pair with Thunwa) acting was so bad, lol, base on your voting, I may try watching this again. 🙂

    Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks for all the projects you subbed last year!!! You’re just simply awesome; no flattery. I’ve seen subbers come and go, so yeah you’re doing an awesome job!

For me it’s got to be Jao Sao Chapor Kit!!!
    – I saw the original a couple of months back and I already had an idea of what the show was about, however I liked how light, fluffy and comical this version was. It had the right mix of angst, fin-moments and comedy.
    – Film was just downright hilarious, especially when he starts his childish-nonchalant antics and that dance move of his hehehe!!
    – Amy was equally amazing! it’s not often you see a married N’ek back on the scene and to boot having such a good chemistry with the P’ek.
    – As for the villians, they weren’t ridiculously rai and I think they executed their roles pretty well. Yeah his mum got on my nerves, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Looking forward to the projects you have lined up for this year!!

Neko – Thank you for all your efforts and hard work! I watched many of your shows this year, enjoyed them all (even the ‘raeng’ lakorns), and finally watched a Film drama I liked. LOL

But the best was Karn La Krang Neung Nai Hua Jai!

    (1) It gave me a lot of Cubic feels: Stoic mafia, plucky girl. One of the longest lakorn names of 2016. Questionable bad guys with poor aim. And without trying to fake-out the filming location.
    (2) Mik!! His hair stayed beautiful despite the wind, fighting, etc etc. His coats and clothing all fit very well. In fact, not a bad outfit on anyone, in my humble opinion.
    (3) Pimmy!! I first saw her in another of yours, KPCHJ, and thought, she is cute and articulate, and has great acting chops.
    (4) I managed to get several of my friends to watch it as well, which is great for camaraderie but also got a few more people interested in lakorns.

As for 2017, su su fighting! I look forward to you upcoming projects.

Thanks for the reminder of all your projects this year – I think I missed that Koo Woon Loon Paen Ruk was finished. It is my favorite of this bunch because I like Win and I always have a soft spot for the hardworking, responsible even to the point of hurting their own feelings and tightly wound characters.
